Trapunto And Other Forms Of Raised Quilting

Trapunto is a beautiful old form of quilting in which designs are raised on solid fabrics and defined solely by lights and shadows. Modern needle-crafters have expanded its forms to include such techniques as raised applique' and print fabric work. Essentially the worker outlines the design in tiny stitches and then adds stuffing within the outline. Thus a design can be created on a plain fabric or emphasized on a patterned one.
