Botticelli

Botticelli succeeded in an entirely unique manner in translating the ideals of humanism, as propagated by poets and philosophers, into the medium of the fine arts. He made visible the idealized beauty that filled the Neoplatonists in Marsilio Ficino's circle with such enthusiasm. In his clear, refined painting style he created the most poetic religious and mythological scenes of his age. During the second half of the 15th century, the famous allegorical main works produced for the Medici ruler Lorenzo il Magnifico made Sandro Botticelli the most important interpreter of the artistic and cultural flowering that was the Renaissance.
