A TASTE FROM HOME

Conceptualised and coordinated by writer, photographer and trained cook Haris Coussidis, “A Taste from Home: Recipes and stories from refugees living in Malaysia” gives readers a rare glimpse into the homes and kitchens of refugees in Malaysia.

Working with 17 refugee home cooks from 11 countries – Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Myanmar – the 55 family recipes in “A Taste from Home” showcases the power of food in bringing people together, evoking memories of home and in preserving identity.

It also explores what the concept of “home” means to refugees in their difficult circumstances.
